Staple Crops Processing Zones, Food Security and Restoration of Local Food Systems in Zimbabwe

With the adoption of Staple Crops Processing Zones (SCPZs) and Agro- (APZs) by Western countries Asia, it is time for Zimbabwe to follow suit in order address food insecurity challenges that country has been facing since year 2000. This article examines possibility, rationality, utility, practicality mechanics designing implementing SCPZs Zimbabwe’s identified agro-processing nodes boost integrate productivity, processing marketing whilst restoring local systems. Methodologically, study utilises secondary data sources, drawing comparisons valuable lessons from cases successful implementation Europe, China Asia.
